Kirkwall Rovers F.C
Kirkwall Rovers is one of the best football teams in Orkney. Some of the best players to play in Orkney have at one point in their career played for rovers.
Rovers have had some stiff competition from their local rivals Thorfinn f.c and Kirkwall hotspurs. Through the youth of rovers they have won a lot of silverware over the years and because Orkney has such bad weather they only manage around 12 league games and various cup games.
The most recent team to play for rovers is this picture(left). Rovers were first formed in 1912 and in 1936 they won all senior competitions in Orkney football. Rovers traditionally play in Orange with black shorts and socks.
In 1997 rovers won the Highland amateur cup, beating Contin F.C by 4 goals to 2!
Rovers now have a young and healthy reserve team, U-15s team and an S1 and under team.
